The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) was established in 1961 and several state use this certification as part of the State Fire Marshal licensing.
In Utah NICET certification is not required. Many fire alarm contractors have chosen to volunteered meet the certification requirements. The certification provides documented experience verified by a third party.
